My marketing thread this week asked: Dumping (the introduction of a product in the commerce of another country at a price, which is less than the "normal" value of the product) is illegal in this country. Wouldn't we, the consumers, be better off if we dropped our anti-dumping laws?
My response is No- I think it will really hurt the economy. Tactics that Wal-Mart has used- which are legal- benefit the pocket of a consumer, but can hurt an economy. If dumping were legal, I could imagine predatory pricing running rampant and just a handful of corporations selling directly to customers and in turn running America. Capitalism and democracy have to be protected
