End of the World & Vertical Integration

If I knew the end of the world were to come, I'd try to do as much as possible. I'd travel and do as many entertaining things as possible

For my BSOP class, in regards to vertical integration:
The only thing about vertical integration is that it requires a lot of costs & difficulties- particularly if you have a big company.
Questions that may pop up are
"How quick can the company return an investment to the shareholders?"
And even more important
"How fast can the company adapt & change quickly and cheaply?"

So, outsourcing may be a good option.
It can keep the company lean as well as focus on core competencies while letting others maintain quality in their specific areas.
