My professor for sociology often assigns essays for homework. Within the first fifteen minutes of each class, we normally have a quiz. The quizes tend to be short answers. Today, we are given 3 websites of databases where you are to enter your zipcode and it gives you demographiv information. We are told by the Professor to look up information on our zipcode and we will then write a essay for our quiz. The essay is just a general response to the findings.
There was nothing shocking found in the database for my zipcode 10457. 10457 is the south Bronx. I know my area very well and even the information given on the site is kind of easy to infer by anyone who has heard of the Bronx.
Informatio found was that there are many high rise housing. The unemployment rate is 6.0 which is a bit higher than te NYC as a whole which is 4.1%. Also students in public schools of the Bronx have a few hundred dollars less spent on them when compared to the average dollar spent on each pupil for the NYC average as a whole.
